A Reason and Resource for Lent

Lent 2015Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the official beginning of the 40-day Lenten season. For many, the practice and observance of Lent as part of our spiritual journey is a new thing. I know it was for me. But if there is one thing I have learned about the spiritual life is this: As distracted people, we have to be intentional, not in trying to produce the spiritual life, but in the practices that create the opportunity in which transformation can take place. Lent is one of those intentional practices. There are a lot of good Lent resources out there. I’ve used a lot of them. I’ve written some of them. But this year I want to recommend The Lent Project. It is done so well. May you engage your heart in this season of reflection, repentance and renewal and pay attention to your stirrings—in that place of deep stillness where the hunger of our souls and the heart of God meet.

Gail, your writing just brings tears to my eyes. Listening to those stirrings- how wonderful of God to speak so individually to us. You help me embrace who I am, and not fight against it. Thank you for continually being a nurturer/feeder/investor in people like me. I am looking forward to enriching my Lent journey with these videos- while I fold laundry. 🙂 Makes it a fun task! Thanks so much- love you forever… xoxo shari
